The Coller Institute of Venture (CIV) at Tel Aviv University(http://www.collerinstituteofventure.org) seeks to further enhance the understanding of the global venture ecosystem by forging a stronger connection between academic research and the business world. The Institute fosters collaborations between scholars, investors, policymakers, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs.
CIV’s research awards aim to encourage and celebrate academic research in the field of venture with the goal of making a significant contribution to understanding and shaping the venture ecosystem. These awards and the Institute will provide the winners with a unique platform to discuss and disseminate their work, including possible participation at CIV2015HK event in Hong Kong on November 6th, 2015 (http://www.collerinstituteofventure.org/civ2015hk/).

· Grand Prize of US$ 5,000
· 2-3 Runners-up of US$ 1,000
· Awardees may be invited to our CIV2015HK: the Futures of Venture, taking place on November 6th 2015
Optional Trip
CIV may sponsor the winners' flights and accommodations for a five day trip to our international conference entitled CIViC 2015 Hong Kong: the Futures of Venture, taking place on November 6th 2015 (http://www.collerinstituteofventure.org/civic2015hk/). At the conference, the winner will be publicly announced.
Procedure, Eligibility and Requirements
The research papers sent by the candidate should be between 1500 to 5000 words, including an executive summary outlining the key questions and findings (300 words). By submitting a paper, the author agrees to re-packaging the paper (or a version of it), as part of the Coller Institute of Venture Research Award's media distribution (the author and/or the publisher of the paper retain all rights for the work and it will be published under the winner’s name).
Deadlines
· Submissions by August 15th 2015 (midnight GMT UK Time).
· Winner will be announced on September 1th, 2015
· Presenting the winning paper at CIV2015HK: the Futures of Venture, November 6 th, 2015 in Hong Kong
Research Focus and Topics
We welcome research on Venture, Innovation or Entrepreneurship and the interplay between them. All types of research are welcomed, including theoretical contributions, simulations, field studies, in-depth case studies, and prescriptive frameworks.
Some topics of interest for CIV’s 2015 Research Awards include:
· New models for investment in one of the value chains in the venture ecosystem (Public Authorities, Institutional Investors, Venture Capitalists, Entrepreneurs).
· Surveys of GP / LP investments or performance including analysis of themes and portfolios.
· In depth case studies related to Venture, Innovation or Entrepreneurship. This could be a VC fund, policy ideas and implementation, a specific partnership, supported theories in developing innovation centric organizations, including both those ideas of what has worked and which have been less successful and the conditions under which these different outcomes have arisen.
· The essential roles of public authorities in the making / funding of Venture or encouraging innovation.
· The venture socio and macroeconomic ecosystem, IP and regulatory aspects in venture, etc.
· New financial model, user funding, lending, corporate funding etc.
· Incubators, accelerators, and angel funding.
Additional topics for awards may relate to:
· Venture Capital Contracting / Strategy.
· Corporate Venture Capital.
· New insights about Crowdfunding.
· Venture Capital vs. Stock Markets.
· Social and psychological affects on VC decisions.

Send an email attached with the paper (Word format) to civ2015awards@collerinstituteofventure.org that includes the following information:
· Details: paper title, main author (full name), email and academic institution together with other relevant contact details (telephone, Skype, etc.). (Other authors may be listed but main author will be awarded and communicated with).
· Similar papers: list of 3-4 similar papers from the past, plus a short explanation about the main difference between these and the submitted paper.
· Other awards for this paper: any awards that you have received for the paper.
· CIViC 2015 Hong Kong availability: indicate whether you are available to attend (relevant dates 4th - 7 thNovember).
